Ice Skating in Paris:
- Date: throughout December
- Venue: All across the city
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why we ended up with so many ice rinks around town at this time of year, but it’s more the merrier as far as we’re concerned.
Ice Rinks in Paris to check out include:
- Champs de Mars - just by the Eiffel Tower. It’s the biggest and most popular.
- Snow park at Charlety Stadium – The Snow Park is very family-friendly
- Rink at La Défense – down the street from Fraser Suites La Défense, it’s a rooftop rink with a great view during the day.
- Ice Rink at the Grand Palais – 2019 dates aren’t confirmed yet, but they do boast that it’s the largest ice rink in the world.
Many of the rinks have free admission, but unless you’re a local, you won’t have your own boots with you. Don’t worry though as you can rent out boots (remember to bring thick socks in your luggage)
The lights at Galeries Lafayette
- Date: All month long
- Venue: Galeries Lafayette
Amongst all the Christmas decorations around the city, there is one place you’d want to visit if you’re looking for that perfect Xmas trip picture. The entire exterior of Galeries Lafayette is covered in fairy lights and attract visitors every night to see one of the city’s lesser-known Christmas traditions.
- Date: 7th December
- Venue: Élysée Montmartre
Expect trendy tunes and plenty of indie dancing as Hot Chip return for what’s going to be another great gig at Élysée Montmartre.
Paris Boat Show
- Date: 7th to 15th December
- Venue: Porte de Versailles
While we couldn’t imagine what taking a dip in the Seine would be like this time of year, the annual boat show chooses December as the time to turn the Porte de Versailles into France’s biggest port. With over 800 exhibitors highlighting all things nautical, you could find yourself comparing speedboats, surfing indoors and practising your fishing technique.
- Date: 9th December
- Venue: L'OLYMPIA
Need to shake the cobwebs away and get the week off to a good start? Then you’ll definitely find it with Alter Bridge coming to town on the only French stop of their European tour.
An American in Paris
- Date: 11th December to 1st January
- Venue: Théâtre du Châtelet
Musicals taking place in Paris aren’t unusual. Creating a completely French musical revival of an American film, based on a composition that’s taking place in the actual theatre the film is set in is something else. With select dates across December, it’s one of the theatre highlights of the season.
- Date: 11th December
- Venue: Bataclan
Get your earplugs at the ready as Skillet is going to turn the volume all the way up at the Bataclan, touring on the back of the release of their 10th album Victorious.
- Date: 12th to 15th December
- Venue: AccorHotels Arena
A great way to get in the festive mood, Corteo is a unique themed show from Cirque du Soleil about a clown dying. Sounds a bit melancholy but trust us that it’s another knockout performance from the world-renowned circus.
- Date: 22nd December
- Venue: AccorHotels Arena
A pop name you don’t hear much about these days, this gig from Mika is a pre-Christmas treat. This late December show is his last of 2019.
John Williams Vs Hans Zimmer

What could be mistaken for the fight of the century, this post-Christmas show is a celebration of two of the biggest names in film scores. Expect back to back classics from a full orchestra performing memorable music from films including Star Wars, Gladiator, Jurassic Park, Inception, Jaws and ET.
