An Englishman by the name of Len Hurst was first across the finish line with a time of 2 hours, 31 minutes and 30 seconds. Reportedly his prize was 200 francs. There was also a medal, the was given to all those who finished the feat in under 4 hours.
The current day distance of the Paris Marathon was set in 1921 as 42.195km and it was around this time that the start of the marathon was moved to the shopping mecca of the Champs-Elysees.
